GJAKU YNË NUK HUMBET KUR *

“Gjaku ynë nuk humbet kurrë, ky gjak mbetet në flamur,” means “The blood we shed is not in vain, this blood in the flag remains,” in Albanian. It is part sculpture, part performance. The flag was inhumed in The Burial (see DOG/GOD). It was first presented as “My Contribution” at Destil Creative Hub in collaboration with SHOTA in Tirana, Albania in October 2021.

Read an interview explaining the work in SHOTA’s issue Turp/Trup, also translated into Italian for Layout Magazine. Nationalism, Interrupted is a conversation where Silvi Naçi and Bimbi (aka Angel) discuss their work with the flag in relationship to queerness, belonging, feminist ideas, global politics, (anti)nationalism, colonization, and migration. You can listen to it here on Montez Press Radio.
